BOaCS3Ep8 – The Tangent Fest

From what I gathered from my Twitter feed over the weekend, everybody seems to be talking about the ACTA and how everybody seems pissed off by it. It would also seem that for once I got on the band wagon early because my cohosts and I discussed this in the middle of last week while we were recording the snow. There were a few other things we talked about but it seems that this is the one that people are the most concerned about, it makes me think that the segment concerning the ACTA should have been bumped up a couple of slots to the feature instead of the WTF of the week. I could use this space to discuss the ACTA at further length, but I feel there is nothing more I can say on the matter that hasn’t already been said. That and today has me feeling a bit tired.

I may or may not make this whole matter next weeks feature to shed some more light on it if people are still talking about it next week when I record. I agree, it is an important matter, but I won’t give said matter any more coverage if the short attention span of the average internet user and podcast listener has found something else to be concerned about.

EDIT: Turns out it was just a fried video card. That is a relief, but I wish I’d figured this out before I spent a whole day backing up my files. And when I say, “whole day” I literally mean that. I had about 400GB and some change that I needed to back up.

BOaCS3Ep5 – Introducing the Fail of the Week Segment

Retraction

If you check my writer blog you’ll begin to notice in the last couple of posts that I’ve made all of the plates that I currently have spinning. What with NaNoWriMo just around the corner, this month’s Great Hites prompt, and the essay that I’m writing I’m going to be very busy for October and November. Working on three different writing projects and researching NASA funding, third world countries, nano-tech, bio-tech, military tactics, military training, and working on the show I’m not going to have a great amount of time to restore the archives like I planned on doing. So unless I can manage to teach Ben how to take two season’s worth of audio and upload it to the file host and then link it to the blog, which I think is an impossible feat, I probably won’t get around to restoring the archives until sometime in November when I’ve made a good amount of progress on my writing project for NaNoWriMo.

So yes, I made a promise that I was unable to deliver on, but I’m just thankful that I’ve got two great hosts who can pull their own weight for this show so that I get each episode out on time. And as long as the podcast is out on time I’m not concerned about anything else. Hopefully I’ll get ahead of my workload, or I can shirk the archives responsibility off onto one of my cohorts and the archives will be restored sooner rather than later. But I wouldn’t expect to see them back up until mid to late November.

Some of you may not think that being unable to make good on the promise of restoring past episodes isn’t that big of a deal, but it is to me. Way back at the beginning of this year I made promises and I made announcements that this show would be back on March ninth. And a combination of procrastination, an actual job, getting stoned, and technical difficulties all combined into a huge snowball effect that made me unable to release the first episodes of the podcast until just now. So having to come back to you again and say, “Hey, remember how I said this was going to happen? Turns out I lied.” disappoints me. I like to keep true to what I say, and if I say I’m going to do something I usually end up doing it. Not that you’d be able to tell that the fact that the first episode of this podcast didn’t hit your feeds until just last month, and that you don’t have the archives up for those of you who actually want to listen to past episodes.

I feel that I’ve rambled on for long enough, there’s your update. If you’re curious about what I’m up to between recording and uploading the shows, check out my writer blog or the contact page for various ways to keep tab on what I’m doing via facebook and twitter.

BOaCS3Ep4 – Slow news week

Alright. Here’s Episode 4. On time again. I think I’m starting to get the hang of this again. And so is Ben. It used to take forever to get him to find time to record, and then having him transcribe the shownotes was always like pulling teeth. It’s good that we have an actual schedule now. I’ll keep this news post short. I’m starting to go into a food coma. As the episode title suggests. It was a slow news week. I didn’t really have much to talk about but I wanted to put an episode out. I still think the show turned out good anyway. Hopefully something interesting will happen next week so that I have something I can bitch about.

Also, November is right around the corner. That means it’s almost time for NaNoWriMo. I’ll be participating in it again this year.
