This song is called “Ill Business”. It’s from a local Indiana band called Once a Friend and they kindly allowed me to use this way back in March when I was originally intending to launch the show. We’ll be throwing more things from season three your way soon. Right now I’m having a problem with the WP player not playing nice with anything that I record and upload to the net. As soon as we can figure out why this is, you’ll have yourself some more of that BOaC goodness that you love.
Banter Over a Cigarette has been canceled. There will be no season 3. This is not from lack of trying. The free file servers that I was using to host my files for season 2 are steaming piles of shit. Check previous posts as to why I say this. I recieved a server in April so that I could host the audio for the show on my own without the use of some third party online. The only problem now, is that I have absolutely no idea what the fuck I am doing. I have the intro, the outro, the promo’s I have EVERYTHING I need to start the show on the same machine I’m using to type this blog right now. I just don’t know how to get them from my computer and onto the show blog’s RSS feed and into iTunes without having to upload it anywhere else but my own machine. If there is anyone who knows how to do this and can show me, contact me immediately. If I can get this figured out season 3 of the show will commence, but until then I’m done.
I’ve tried everything I can and it’s just not enough and every person I know, and every person I’ve asked online doesn’t seem to know how to help me so I’m giving up. This has been fun. Thanks for listening.

As I’ve told you in previous posts. I’ll be receiving a server as a birthday present from my father. He’s finally worked out all the bugs and got everything working right. He shipped the server yesterday and it should arrive on Tuesday. Of course I’m only going by what the tracking number and the UPS website is telling me. If everything goes the way it is supposed to (read: The way I hope it does.) Then it should take me the first week of April to take all of my files and setting and Firefox stuff off of my current steaming pile of shit computer, and move them over to the server. And it’s I estimate that it should take me a week to figure out the basic concepts of how a server works so I can host episodes from my own box. If everything goes according to plan then I estimate that you listeners might see the first episode of season three as soon as April thirteenth.

Due to reasons beyond my control the release date for season three of Banter Over a Cigarette will be delayed by as much as a month before new episodes will be posted.
For this season I tried to find a new, more reliable, file hosting service. I searched, and looked and googled like there was no tomorrow. And to no avail I was unable to find a suitable host. All of the places I found were either phony sites trying to trick you into submitting your files so that they may dig through them to see if you submitted anything of value.
Or it was basically a file “dead drop” of sorts as an alternative to Rapidshare or megaupload to aid in piracy. Not that I have anything bad to say about piracy. I do it all the time.
Needless to say I was unable to find a new place to host the files for the show and so I had to stick with fileden for my hosting needs.
And fileden stepped up to the plate . . .
And they fucking failed miserably.
Anything that I’ve recorded for the show and uploaded to fileden refuses to play online, therefor it is not going into the RSS feed for the show and not registering in the iTunes podcast directory.
My solution is this:
As I’ve stated earlier my father is building me a server for my birthday. Once it is shipped and I have everything configured to my liking I’ll be able to host all the files for BOaC on my own without any aid from a third party, thus guaranteeing to you, the listeners, that the episodes will always be on-time and in proper working condition for whatever manner you choose to listen to them in.
With that said I’m going to go enjoy the rest of my birthday.

I have no idea what the fucking problem is and I’m sick of having these things go wrong left and right after I’ve put so much work in this week.
If I can’t find a solution to my problem by the end of tomorrow the release date of BOaC is going to be pushed back by a month until I can figure it out.
It’s true. I just spent the last couple of days uploading everything from all the seasons of BOaC to Mediafire. And then I spent most of today linking the posts on the blog to the stuff that is on mediafire only to discover that I’ve been wasting my time. Mediafire is only for uploading files for other people do download. I can’t post my episodes on there and have them work on this site. So now I have to find another place that works. And then spend the time uploading all the shit to that new place.
I’ve found a place called File Factory. I’m testing it out right now. Lets hope it works.
After searching the net for something to my liking. I’ve found nothing. So here is my solution. I’m going to be using Fileden to host my files for season three for now.
So the only thing that will be in the feed is anything I upload for season three.
If there is anything on the site from Season one or two that doesn’t work. . . Well that’s life.
Here is my solution. I’m going to deal with a shitty file server place for a while because I’m about to come into possession of a computer that I’ll be able to use as my own server. Once I get that set up all of my problems will be solved as far as I see.
So until I get that rolling we’ll all have to put up with things not working and links dying and bandwidth running out.

There are a total of five bonus episodes that are just sitting here on my hard drive ready to roll out and hit the feed. But due to my massive procrastination (which will be discussed at length in one of those bonus content episodes) I haven’t done much work until the last couple of days.
There is a small problem with the feed on iTunes. Only the last two episodes are available. I chalk that up to very shitty service from the free file hosting servers I was using. I’ve recently discovered Mediafire. And as long as the file is not over 100Mb they have no problem. Infinite file space and bandwidth. It seems to be working well so far and I think you should check it out for your own file hosting needs. It is what I’ll be using in the future for any file hosting need I have. Well at least until I have the cash to register a domain and have my own place to upload files there.
So after I re upload all the fun things from season one and two and relink them on the blog so they show up in the feed I can then finally add all the bonus content that was supposed to hit the feed days ago (some of it as far back as a few weeks ago).
I’ve been doing a lot of work in the last few days. I have the intro and outro all recorded for the show and the songs from both of those will hit the feed as bonus content later in the week. I have the guys assembling tomorrow to record the season three promo. And we should be sitting down to record the show on Thursday.
I’m going to have to give props to a personal friend of mine Dolla J. Who just happens to be the new sound technician for Banter Over a Cigarette and any other audio endeavors I may take on. I got everything put together for the season three intro and he went through and spent hours cleaning up every buzz, hum, click, and weird noise so that it sounds super sweet. I’m really proud of this seasons intro. All the preproduction such as the recording and putting together and timing of all the audio was me. And all of the cleaning up and polishing and adjustment of audio levels was all him. He is a fucking surgeon behind the mixer board and I’m glad to have his expert experience. He’s going to be the chief editor and sound technician for any novels I record in the future.
I’m going to be spending the rest of my time online tonight uploading all the files to that file server and then spend tomorrow recording a promo and then going through the blog and relinking all of the stuff that needs to be relinked so that it goes into the feed. I can’t upload the new shit and then go and relink the old stuff because then the new stuff will be buried by the old stuff and the feed will be out of order, so I have to go through and relink all of the old stuff in the exact order that it was posted so it all shows up in the feed in order. Or at least I hope. I’ve got a lot of work that needs to be done before the show can launch and I’m determined to get it all done on time.
I plan on releasing the first episode of the third season sometime in the first two weeks of March. It just depends on how early we can get everything all put together. I have a couple of small things in the way of bonus content that will be uploaded and put on the site within the next couple of days, just to test the feed. And so that you listeners have bonus content. I also may or may not put a more personal update on Drawing a Blank, so feel free to check there if you like. I know I’ll be writing a few blogs there just about a couple of movies I’ve seen recently and my opinion of them.

Well, I was going to have Ben come over today and do the show notes today. That didn’t happen because Ben is deciding to be a dick, and it seems like he’s only using me as a convenience to him because I’m the only person he knows that has wireless internet. Or at least that’s the only thing I can think of. He doesn’t come over unless there’s a show to record or unless he needs the internet for something. And now that The Ex-Girlfriend Lady is leaving and taking the internet machine and the router with her. He seems to have reasons to not come over.
It wouldn’t seem to occur to him that I could really use my friends in this time that I’m going though. It never occurred to him that I have nothing going on for me outside of the show and classes right now, and when I come home I have nothing to do and I’m stuck in the house with a woman who’s leaving me and spends a majority of her time in whatever room I’m not in. And with that said, maybe I’d enjoy the company of my friends a little more. And maybe he could come over to watch a movie or play magic or something, without having any actual reason for coming over than to hang out.
I apologize for airing this on the show blog but what can you do? There’s going to be no show notes for our last episode. And this will be the last episode until around February or March. I will put out a bonus episode every now and again just so you know that I haven’t completely vanished.
When I get my new computer up and running whenever my dad sends it to me I’ll record a little something to put up here.
